As the month come to an end…
Whenever someone askes me these days hows IBA goin? I say ‘Its getting better’….thats really the way it is. My first week at IBA left me wondering what all the hype had been all about. Although i was really enjoyin my classes(ok..some of them) but the free periods were a drag. Most often than not, the pigeonhole cum computer lab in the library was my only option to kill time. At first, it was just a hot and crowded ‘pigeonhole’ but then it became a gr8 place to socialize as half my bored classfellows cohabited the place.
One of them was sitting next to me one day and told me he had come across my blog…’The interview post was really funny. I was in the same group discussion, btw.’ And so began the process of making friends.
Inside the classroom, at first it was trial and error. Hanging out wid one group of ppl to see if u fitted in. My class was turning out to be a huge disappointment. It was full of ppl wid super inflated egos who didnt respect the teahcers or anyone else for that matter..but then i figured out that that was just the wannabees bunch who seemed to represent the whole class at first.. A closer look made me identify a few nice ppl too.
Did i mention the upcoming elections?? There are two panels. The BBA 7 s and the BBA 5s. In the beginning both the panels gave it their all to make a lasting impression on us newbies. From excursions to the PG to Damascus to Pizza Hut. They have left no stones unturned. But because the elections have been annoyingly delayed up till now, all the campaigners too have lost the vibe. Obviously there are times when they approach us trying to make small talk but they know we’re as tired of it as they are. I have already decided who I am goin to vote for if the elections ever happen..that is.
Wondering what PG stands for??? The one and only Karachi University’s Prem Gali. Almost everyone who came to IBA was excited abt seeing this place. As the name suggests, it was a couple’s meeting area. SK, whos standing for VP from BBA7, took around 40, 50 of us to that place. It was an anticlimax coz we hardly saw any couples around.. hehe. but we did fall in love with the food there. As our cafeteria has nothin to offer, everyone from class either comes to PG after a 15 min walk to PG to savor some delicious chicken rolls or go to the Business Administration Department next door to enjoy the famous BAchal ki Biryani. It should then come as no suprise that i have put on quite some weight ever since I joined IBA. Afterall, IBA has no basketball.
Ofcoure there’s a basketball court but we have now found another use for it. Baraf Pani!! It was first at the admin block that we played this game but then we found a better place.
And just when i have started to feel IBA s getting better, we have the dreaded hourlies next week. Most of us were goin to adopt the n-1 rulle for this hourly but the seniors warned us against that. This, according to them, is the time when we should be aiming for a high GPA so we can relax the rest of the four years at IBA. They say its easy to maintain a high GPA in the first semster but hard to improve a bad one.
So that has been a month at IBA in a nutshell…
66 and 103!!
thanx for the bestest day ever!!!
Birthdays…
With my mind preoccupied by so many other things, i almost forgot the most important person’s birthday yesterday. Mano even came online in the afternoon. She asked me if I had anything to say to her. I asked her what they had named chotoo (the newest addition to our family). Before disconnecting she asked me again..’No..why?’. ‘I didnt expect this of u, sid’ and wid that she left.
Mailed her back asking her what i had done. I still had no idea what was wrong. Later in the evening someone told me what date it was….Shoooot..23rd. Mano’s B-day… I called her up.
Sid:HApppy B-day!!!
Mano: Yaad aa gaya aap ko? (Not the sarcasm…plz)
Sid: I’m so sorrry…I had no idea what date it was today.
After finally convincing that it really had been an hpnest mistake and this didnt undernmine her importance at all, I was finally excused.
After yesterday, I made it a point to be the first one to wish Nabeel in the morning when he boarded the bus. Eveybody took the cue and wished him too. POoor thing hadnt taken a seat and the bus started. He lost in his balance and slipped. Somehow, i managed to prevent him from falling flat on me by just one hand. That was some scene…Bitrhday Bumps in the Bus..hehe. Later in the break he treated the whole class at Bachal’s wid the best biryani someone can ever taste…Poor thing had to borrow some money from me and Abeer later to treat everybody in the point as well…this time it was ice creams…yummmy.
But the birthdays arent over yet….HaPpY BiRtHdAy DiNkY….wheres our treat???
jk. Wishing u loads and loads of love, joy , success and wealth for the years to come…*hugs
